In regards to purging the old Indy 8 files here is a batch file that I use.
This script works fine for a C++Builder 6 Professional installation with no
third party libraries installed.  If you have many other third party
libraries installed then you should first make sure that the following
commands will not affect them.

@echo off
REM This script is used to remove all remnants of Indy 8 from the C++Builder
6 installation
REM ***
REM First, remove the Indy package from BCB6 using the "Install Packages"
area of the IDE
REM ***

REM Change the following paths appropriately for your installation
set BCBDrive=c
set BCB="%BCBDrive%:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6"
set WINSYS32=C:\WINDOWS\System32

REM Rename the entire source directory
cd %BCB%\Source
ren Indy Indy.v8

REM Make a backup directory for all Indy HPP files
cd %BCB%\Include\vcl
mkdir Indy.v8
move Id*.hpp Indy.v8

REM Make a backup directory for all Indy OBJ and DCU files
cd %BCB%\Lib\Obj
mkdir Indy.v8
move Id*.dcu Indy.v8
move Id*.obj Indy.v8

REM Backup the remaining binary files
cd %BCB%\Bin
mkdir Indy.v8
move indy*.bpl Indy.v8
move dclindy*.bpl Indy.v8

cd %BCB%\Lib\Debug
mkdir Indy.v8
move indy*.* Indy.v8
move dclindy*.* Indy.v8

cd %BCB%\Lib\Obj
mkdir Indy.v8
move indy*.* Indy.v8
move dclindy*.* Indy.v8

cd %BCB%\Lib\Release

mkdir Indy.v8
move indy*.* Indy.v8
move dclindy*.* Indy.v8

REM Remove the BPL file from the Windows directory
del %WINSYS32%\Indy.bpl
del %WINSYS32%\Indy60.bpl
