Ib Windows, overlapped/IOCP is the only sensible way. An IOCP server can
handle the max 64k sockets, (assuming the overall loading is sensible).
On Linux, I wouldn't try creating 64k pthreads or, for that matter, 64k
forked processes :)
I'm not at all sure what model could be used on Linux to rx the segments &
queue them to a pool of handler threads. Will 'select' work with 64k
sockets, I wonder?
