Since you are transferring files from one server to another, have you
considered having one server transfer the file *directly* to the other
server without going through your client at all? The FTP protocol supports
that (and that is how programs like FlashXP work). Basically, you put the
receiving server into PASV mode and grab the IP/Port that it is listening
on, and then send a PORT command to the sending server to tell it where to
send the next file during the next transfer.
