You did not say which version of Indy you are actually using. Indy 9 only
supports AUTH LOGIN. Indy 10 supports several others.

It means that the data you transmitted did not validate properly. Are you
sure that you specified the proper username and password to begin with?
Were they in the correct case (upper vs. lower case characters)?
